I am involved in a political campaign in my county and would like to know how to send a mass text message.?

I am trying to get the youth out to vote and read that sending a txt message is a good way to attract young voters. Does anyone know how I would obtain a cell phone list of numbers? Is it legal? Its legal but I wouldn't send it on a text message. Some phones cant hold a text message over 180 characters. Send a flyer instead.
