What do you think about Minors donating money to political campaign?

This is in regards to the USA Todays article ';Pols net millions from piggy banks';

I don't believe it is legal. John Kerry almost tripped over the same thing. Some grade school kids gave their lunch money or something to his campaign (wasn't very much). They were on the news, all smiling, saying how sweet it was that these little kids were ';getting involved';. The Kerry people were all over it for the photo op and good press. After taking the money, it was pointed out that underage people cannot donate to political campaigns (or at least to candidates in Federal elections). Kerry had to give the money back.What do you think about Minors donating money to political campaign?
Why not?
If the minor is filing a tax return for income, they should be allowed to donate some of that income.
It should be illegal.

There is the 2,300 limit. Parents will be giving their children 2,300 also. So effectively, the donation limit would be

(2,300 x children count + 1)
